Overview
The Program Coordination Board for the Veterinary Medicine Program serves as the academic coordination body of the Faculty of Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Medicine, Nong Lam University – Ho Chi Minh City. It brings together three key academic units: Infectious Diseases and Community Veterinary Medicine, Veterinary Biosciences, and Clinical Veterinary Medicine. The Board coordinates and monitors the coherence and integration of the curriculum, ensuring strong links among foundational sciences, disease biology and diagnosis, disease prevention and control, community veterinary medicine, and clinical practice.
The Board aims to develop a modern, integrated, practice-oriented, and professionally aligned veterinary curriculum, placing learners at the center and connecting education with research, professional practice, and societal needs.
Vision
To become a high-quality and internationally oriented coordination hub for veterinary medical education, developing veterinarians with comprehensive knowledge, strong practical competencies, scientific thinking, professional ethics, and the ability to address emerging challenges in animal, human, and environmental health.
Development Strategies
- Integrate and strengthen connections among basic sciences, pathology, diagnostics, disease prevention and treatment, clinical veterinary medicine, and community veterinary medicine.
- Regularly review and update the curriculum in accordance with professional standards, societal needs, and emerging trends in veterinary medicine.
- Promote competency-based, practice-oriented, and problem-based learning, supported by veterinary hospitals, laboratories, and field training.
- Strengthen research, innovation, and technology transfer in veterinary medicine.
- Expand collaboration with industry, veterinary practices, research institutions, and domestic and international universities.
- Develop the curriculum according to the One Health approach, addressing zoonoses, food safety, antimicrobial resistance, and ecosystem health.

Research Directions
The Board promotes interdisciplinary research based on the complementary strengths of the three academic units:
- Infectious Diseases, Epidemiology and One Health: zoonoses, epidemiology, disease surveillance and control, biosafety, and public health.
- Veterinary Diagnostics and Biotechnology: molecular diagnostics, immunology, ELISA, PCR/qPCR, molecular biology, and rapid diagnostic technologies.
- Vaccines, Immunity and Alternatives to Antibiotics: development and evaluation of vaccines, probiotics, prebiotics, medicinal plants, and biological products for disease prevention and treatment.
- Antimicrobial Resistance and Food Safety: responsible antimicrobial use, antimicrobial resistance, veterinary drug residues, and risks to public health.
- Veterinary Pathology and Clinical Medicine: diseases of livestock, poultry, and companion animals; diagnostic imaging, internal medicine, surgery, reproduction, and musculoskeletal disorders.
- Animal Health, Productivity and Welfare: factors affecting animal health, reproduction, productivity, adaptability, stress, and environmental impacts.
- Emerging Technologies in Veterinary Medicine: applications of biotechnology, nanotechnology, biosensors, data science, and advanced technologies in animal disease diagnosis, surveillance, and health management.
