Introduction
In 1975, after the Liberation of South Vietnam, the name of Agriculture University – Thu Duc Polytechnic University was changed to Agricultural University No.IV, which is now Nong Lam University, with many faculties were established, particularly the Faculty of Animal Science and Veterinary Medicine. In 1977, the Department of Genetics and Breeding was established after the separation of Department of Heredity, Breeding and Animal Production. From 1977 to 2012, the department was managed by Mr.Dien Quan DANG-D.V.M.-Associate Professor, Mr.Thanh Cong TRINH-Ph.D.-Associate Professor and Mr.Nghia Trong PHAM-Ph.D., respectively. In 2013, the department’s name was changed to Department of Animal Breeding (D.A.B.) and since then, Mr.Chinh Van CHAN-Ph.D. has been the Head of Department.
